At Byrkley Aquatics, we’re starting to work more closely with creators in the aquascaping community those who genuinely live and breathe the hobby.
First up is Adam, also known as Adam7FishTanks, who has been in the hobby for over 7 years and creating content across YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok for the past couple of years.
Adam’s content covers a wide range of fishkeeping, from freshwater and saltwater setups through to detailed aquascaping projects, making him a great fit for what we’re building.
Getting Into Aquascaping
Like many in the hobby, Adam’s journey into aquascaping started with inspiration.
After watching content from George Farmer, and seeing Takashi Amano’s incredible “Florestas Submersas” layout, his perspective on aquariums completely changed.
What started as fishkeeping quickly evolved into an interest in creating full underwater landscapes combining both aesthetics and functionality.
Style & Approach

Every aquascaper develops their own style over time, and Adam is particularly drawn to triangular compositions.
This layout style creates a strong sense of balance while still feeling dynamic, guiding the viewer’s eye naturally through the tank and making good use of negative space.
When it comes to plants, Adam’s first choice is Bucephalandra. Known for their variety of leaf shapes and colours, these plants offer a huge amount of flexibility when it comes to placement and detail within a scape.
The Next Project
We will be supporting Adam with his next aquascaping project, which is already shaping up to be an exciting one.
This upcoming build will feature Mopani wood, something Adam is using for the first time. With its unique texture and weight, it offers a very different look compared to other hardscape materials.
The tank will also follow a biotope-inspired approach, focusing on a specific country and allowing Adam to reintroduce a particular species of fish he’s been keen to keep again.
We’re looking forward to seeing how this one develops from start to finish, you can join us too and follow the progress.
Balancing Aquascaping & Fishkeeping
One of the biggest challenges in aquascaping is finding the right balance between design and practicality, something Adam is actively working on.
As he puts it, some fish can act like “underwater bulldozers”, which can make maintaining a carefully designed layout difficult.
The goal is to create aquascapes that not only look high-impact, but also provide a safe and suitable environment for the fish themselves something that sits right at the heart of good fishkeeping.
Follow the Journey
We’ll be sharing updates from Adam’s upcoming build across our social channels, including the full scape, progress updates, and plant selections used along the way.
If you’re interested in aquascaping, or just enjoy seeing how tanks develop over time, Adam’s content is definitely worth watching.

Final Thoughts
This is just the start of what we’re building with creators in the aquascaping space, and we’re excited to support projects like this moving forward.
Keep an eye out for the first scape coming soon 👀🌿
