Driftcactus Cholla provides essential enrichment for your habitat's inhabitants, encouraging natural behaviors and interactions. The complex surface of Cholla branches fosters the development of a “biofilm,” which is excellent for foraging shrimp. Additionally, the wood is soft enough to supplement the diet of rasping fishes, such as Plecostomus. Driftcactus Cholla is also perfect for attaching aquatic mosses, making it a versatile aquascaping accent.
One of the key benefits of Cholla wood is its ability to support biofilm growth, which shrimp will graze on, providing them with a constant food source. However, like many aquatic woods, Cholla often floats initially. Boiling the branches in water can help them become waterlogged more quickly, allowing them to sink.
